Where the wave begins
Janelle Lindvall’s approach to training is rooted in a simple belief: strong mechanics build the foundation, but developing the whole athlete is what creates great players. Janelle grew up in the game and went on to compete at its highest levels—as a catcher at the University of Oregon, a four-time Pac-12 Champion, two-time Women’s College World Series competitor, Team USA athlete, World Cup Gold Medalist, and professional softball player. Through those experiences, she learned that becoming a great player requires much more than physical talent alone.
That belief became the foundation of Lindvall Softball.
We teach mechanics—and we believe they matter. Building a fundamentally sound swing, understanding movement, creating consistency, and learning how to make adjustments are essential parts of developing as a hitter.
But mechanics are only one piece of becoming a complete player.
Janelle started Lindvall Softball to create a training environment that develops the whole athlete.
Along with physical skills, athletes learn how to understand the game, develop softball IQ, approach an at-bat with a plan, make adjustments, handle pressure, respond to failure, trust their preparation, and compete with confidence.
With a degree in psychology from the University of Oregon, Janelle has always had a passion for the mental side of performance. She understands that two athletes can have similar physical ability, yet the athlete who learns to stay composed, work through adversity, believe in herself, and compete one pitch at a time can become an entirely different player.
Those lessons reach far beyond the softball field.
Softball gives young athletes countless opportunities to learn resilience, accountability, confidence, discipline, communication, leadership, and how to keep moving forward when things don't go their way. These aren't just softball skills—they're life skills.
At Lindvall Softball, the goal isn't to create athletes who simply know how to swing. We want them to understand why, learn how to adjust independently, develop confidence in their abilities, and become smarter, stronger, more complete competitors.
Because eventually, there won't be a coach standing beside them telling them what adjustment to make or how to respond to a difficult moment. We want to prepare them to trust themselves when that moment comes.
Better mechanics. Smarter players. Stronger minds. Confident young women.
That's what developing the whole athlete means at Lindvall Softball.
